So, there is this disease that has been around for a long time. Many of us refer to it as G.A.S.
Say it with me now (I can hear people repeating this like someone at an AA meeting). “Gear Acquisition Syndrome”.
Most of us in this community has had this when it comes to instruments and it doesn’t seem to ever stop. No matter how hard we try, the “just one more guitar” is never the last guitar.
I know someone who actually only buys white guitars so his wife never thinks to ask him if he got a new one (I hope this doesn’t blow his cover, or for that matter give more people the idea to try this. I don’t want to be responsible for anymore divorces- that is a story for another blog).
We have this friend, lets call him…..Jim Matrazzo, actually that is his real name. He will be featured as an artist on this site. Berklee Grad, Great Teacher and a pretty good sport about most things.
Well, I managed to shine the light on new gear for him. So much so that he bought 7 new guitars in a year, bought a computer, interface, Cubase (with a ton of add on plug ins) and to top it all off spent a year building a custom studio room to put all his new gear in.
Jim has gotten me back 10 fold. I think I have spent more on gear in the past year than in 10 years. I don’t even want to talk about it.
To make a short story long, Jim said “ya know Grady? You are dangerous, a true instigator. You gave me the Brian Grady Syndrome.” And there you have it. BGS was born. But it has been around a long long time. My family can attest to that.
So anyway, if you want to follow me on Instagram, my personal is Brian_Grady_Syndrome. Be careful though. The last thing I want to create are credit criminals and to break up happy homes.
More updates to come. Onward and Upward.
